Washington’s COVID-case total increased by 483 Wednesday and officials reported an additional nine deaths as the state inches closer to having 30,000 cases. The Washington State Department of Health is reporting 29,869 cases and 1,293 deaths from COVID-19. There have been 4,093 people hospitalized due to complications of coronavirus. The state set a new record Saturday with 624 new confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in late February.
Human Rights Watch says the restrictions, put in place last year on Rakhine and Chin states, are leaving some unaware of the pandemic. The restrictions are said to affect more than 1 million people.

Faced with a recent uptick in confirmed COVID-19 cases in certain parts of the state, Gov. Jay Inslee announced Tuesday that the state is imposing a mandatory requirement that people wear masks when they are outside their homes as officials struggle to contain the virus. The governor said the new mandate, which he reiterated is a “legal requirement,” will go into effect on Friday, June 26 and will apply statewide to individuals and businesses.
