Washington reports over 29,000 total COVID-19 cases after recent surge

Washington state has over 29,000 total COVID-19 cases after health officials reported an additional 516 cases Tuesday and an additional eight deaths. The Washington State Department of Health is reporting 29,386 cases statewide and 1,284 deaths, up from eight the day before. Officials said 4,067 people have been hospitalized due to the virus. The state set a new record Saturday with 624 new confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in late February.
