With the more easily transmissible and more deadly UK variant of COVID-19 becoming more prevalent in Arkansas, Gov. Asa Hutchinson is again asking state residents to get vaccinated and encouraged employers to make vaccines available in the workplace. Health Secretary Dr. Jose Romero said on Tuesday that the number of people infected with the UK variant of COVID-19 has tripled in Arkansas. “This is only the tip of the iceberg,” Romero said. “It’s here and we expect to see more. ”
On Monday night, Gov. Roy Cooper gave his third State of the State address. “The state of our state is strong,” Cooper said. Cooper began his address by acknowledging the past year he said no one could have imagined. “Our response to an unprecedented, once in a generation challenge is showing us clearly that North Carolinians are resilient and ready,” he said.
President Biden will send up to 60 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine to countries pleading for help, but some see a medicine dropper for “a four-alarm fire.”
